wedding blog full of tips and advice on weddings
Today we reached 1000 Followers on Instagram and I cant quite believe it. I remember when I started the page as a bit of fun. I was in training to be a celebrant and wanted to share my tips and advise from all the weddings I was planning each week.
I remember when I reached 100 and thought "o my gosh that is so many people" but now it just keeps growing more and more. Each follower I am so grateful for and I love when they message me and I get to hear about their day and what they have planned. Some DM me for Supplier Advise and others for Advise on the COVID 19 pandemic. Its nice to be there for people, to be someone they can talk to and just have on their side. Its all private but in a way I feel like we have our own little community ! A community that absolutely loves weddings and all things around wedding. Its also so nice to see some of my past couples add me, each one of them mean so much to me and its lovely to keep in touch. So to all of you who are following me on Instagram a HUGE Thank you

We went into Lockdown in Ireland this weekend. Its time to start working from home and boy am I glad I went on a shopping trip last month to buy a desk and a book shelf. My office has never looked so good now to actually start doing some work !
Its very strange not being in the hotel. Not having your work colleagues around you. Normally mid week we work on the admin and catch up on emails after a busy weekend on the floor with couples on their special days. Its days like today where we are normally printing menus, getting table plans and work plans ready for the next wedding. But for now we don't know when that might be. But today I have said enough is enough time to start the ball rolling and get motivated so I reached out to some service providers about doing a segment on Instagram called #asktheexperts. Its going to be a Live Instagram where I interview leading Suppliers (experts in their own fields) and give all the couples who follow me an opportunity to ask questions and get their worries answered. There is a lot of uncertainty about dress shopping, honeymoons etc so now I can use Instagram as a platform to get these questions answers and keep everyone motivated because this is a prime time now when people are at home to keep the planning going and get jobs done now for the wedding that you might not get done when things get back to normality. Its been a busy week but we are here and delighted to be launching #asktheexperts
Cannot believe the generosity in people giving up their time and agreeing to come on and answer questions live to people. Its not for everyone I totally understand but i am grateful to everyone for assisting in making this happening so the line up for Season One is..... "Your Health is Your Wealth " I was off last week on annual leave and spent some time in Donegal with my family. I was meant to stay there longer but my trip was cut short when an announcement was made by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar putting a stop to big functions larger than 100 people. When he made this announcement I was at home in the sitting room in front of a roaring open fire. I couldn't believe what this virus was doing to our country. My heart immediately broke for all my couples. All the Weddings that they have been planning their lives around for so many months. I hopped in the car 40 mins later and headed on the N17 back to Clare.
Today, I went back to the Hotel where I work. In Seven Days there has been so many changes and regulations since the last time I step foot into the hotel. Yesterday the hotel shut its doors to the public. Today, it is a dark, empty hotel. No guests in the corridors or bars, no hustle and bustle in the kitchen, just 3 other team members and I are in the Hotel today. We made the decision to contact all our couples for March today and advise them to move their weddings. But what do you say to these couples ? How do you tell them this? After my first call, I burst into tears. And for me this was only the beginning. I think it all hit me today, how hard this was gonna be and how this would affect so many people. To think 2 months ago we were laughing about Hand Sanitizer in the Canteen and now its come to the Hotel closing and us postponing so many of our couples special days. I am an emotional wreck today. I cannot stop crying and I don't know if its because the hotel is so empty, because I miss my team mates that work with me or if it's talking to so many amazing couples that is bringing so much sadness to me today. I am trying to be strong and positive for the couples but inside my heart is breaking for them. I know sometimes I get too attached to my job but really my role is more than a job. Being a Wedding Co Ordinator, you don't just plan weddings. You are a person that will do anything to make two people's dream day become a reality. You are a listener, you are a source of information, you are a leader, you are a facilitator, you are a time keeper, you are a planner, and you are a friend to this couple. And its days like today I find difficult. I postponed 6 weddings today but all couples are happy and that is the positive thing from today. Every couple will still have their wedding day. The Wedding is not cancelled, they get to enjoy the engagement for that little while longer !! For the Health and Safety of all involved its the right thing to do and as the saying goes "Your Health is Your Wealth" and I am a true believer of that. Tomorrow will be a better day, I hope .... |
